Pregnancy massage has a lot of therapeutic benefits and can help pregnant women to cope with the changes to their bodies and minds that occur in this special time of their lives.  

Pregnancy massage includes prenatal and postnatal massage. Many pregnant women suffer from ailments and musculoskeletal problems due to the body continuously changing. The massage is similar in many ways to a normal massage with the main difference being the techniques used during pregnancy which are adapted to maintain the wellbeing of mother and child. Techniques can include gentle massage and firm massage to help relax the expectant mother. 

There are a number of health benefits of pregnancy massage that include-  

  • Reduced stress

  • Increased relaxation and decreased anxiety

  • Decreased muscle and joint pain, and reduced discomfort

  • Improved circulation  

  • Improved sleep quality

Please Note:

Our policy for first trimester pregnancy massage is that a Doctor, Obstetrician, Gynecologist or midwife's permission is required. Permission is also needed for all trimesters if you are in a high risk category.  

 

Please consult your doctor before you have a pregnancy massage if you have anyone of the following conditions below:

  • Nausea, vomiting or morning sickness

  • A high risk of miscarriage

  • A high risk pregnancy (such as preeclampsia or high blood pressure)

  • Blood clotting issues (such as deep vein thrombosis)

  • Abdominal pain 

  • Bleeding
